Ground note
The soft line under a block. 48 instances across 27 screens, and where most of the product’s links live: 15 of the 24.
What Clerk did not check, what the count excludes, where the reader can go and look. It is the quietest thing on the case pane, and design principle 2 is why it exists: say what is true about the machine, including what it did not find.
It was the most duplicated thing in the product. Before stage 07 it was written as a literal style attribute in three generators and on a dozen blocks, which is the shape a component takes when nobody has named it yet.
A slot has no variant matrix. Six molecules turned out to be slots at step 2, measured in a browser: 71 distinct sets of child zones and one computed form each.

When to use it
Under a block, when there is something true and quiet to add: a gap in the evidence, a scope the count excludes, a source that is worth opening.
Where she meets it. On the second read, when she is deciding whether to trust the verdict. The first read skips it, and that is the design: the cheapest correct thing first, and this is the cheapest thing on the page.
