Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Sift handles when you turn scattered customer feedback into product decisions, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it. Handling feedback responsibly is core to the product, not an afterthought. See our cookies note below and the Security and GDPR page for how the data is stored.
Data we handle
Sift handles three kinds of data:
- Account data. Your name, work email, and workspace details, used to run your account and sign you in.
- Feedback content. The support tickets, reviews, calls, and interview notes you import from CSV or connect through Intercom. This is the raw feedback Sift clusters into themes and evidence.
- Usage data. How you interact with Sift, used to keep the service reliable and to improve synthesis quality.
We do not sell your data. Feedback content is processed only to produce themes, evidence, and briefs for your own workspace. Where the data lives depends on your region; EU workspaces can be stored in the EU. See Security and GDPR for data residency.
PII scrubbing
Customer feedback often carries personal data: names, email addresses, and phone numbers pasted into a support ticket. Sift scrubs this by default before feedback is stored for synthesis, so a theme or an evidence quote does not surface a customer's identity. Scrubbing is on for every source and can be reviewed under Data and privacy in your account. Exact detection categories and retention periods are confirmed with counsel and published here before launch.
Cookies
Sift uses a small number of cookies: strictly necessary cookies to sign you in and keep your session, and optional analytics cookies to understand product usage. On your first visit in the EU, a cookie consent banner lets you accept or decline the optional ones, and you can change that choice at any time. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)
Under GDPR (EU and UK) and CCPA (California) you can:
- access the personal data we hold about you,
- correct or delete it,
- export a copy,
- object to or restrict certain processing,
- opt out of the sale of personal data (Sift does not sell personal data).
To exercise any right, contact us using the details below or manage your data directly under Data and privacy in your account. We respond within the timelines the law requires.
